My Work Principles
Here’s a basic outline of my startup philosophy:
- Surround myself with people who challenge me, teach me and inspire me every day to become the next better version of myself
- Partner with people with an equally strong sense of purpose. I get energy from interacting with people who are contagiously passionate about what they do
- Move fast, iterate faster
- Don’t chase trends or hot sectors
- ==Work from first principles, evaluating each idea, company and market on its independent merits==
- Avoid overfunded areas and prefer companies taking idiosyncratic approaches to solving big problems
- Simplifiers (vs. complexifiers)
- The magnitude of a startup’s success requires the founder to be deeply invested in their company. The company needs to be an extension of themselves
- If you want the outlier outcomes, what you are building only exists because of you
No man ever ‘discovers’ himself. The myth of self-discovery is a cultural illusion.
To become the person you want to be, you must ‘ake’ yourself, not wait for a profound epiphany. No amount of travel, exploration, indulgence, or intellectual pursuit will magically reveal your true nature. Instead, you must take action, create, and shape yourself through the choices you make every day.
